Trends come and go, but appreciating your own natural beauty and accentuating your best features is always in style. What says glam better than putting your best face forward? One of the easiest, most effective ways to do this is by using a quick and easy makeup routine so many women fail to utilize is the technique known as highlighting.
This technique accentuates the high points of your face, which in most women is the brown bone, the cheek bones, the center of the chin, the ridge of the nose, and the cupid's bow (or the curve on the top of the lips directly under the nose.) By exaggerating on these features, highlighting techniques can easily slim facial features, make lips appear plumper, and overall enhance your own natural beauty.
After following your ordinary skincare routine and your face is sparkling fresh, liberally apply moisturizer to your skin to ensure an even canvas. When this is properly absorbed and dried, use your ordinary foundation or CC screen, preferably one with a sunscreen, and identify the previously mentioned high points of your face.
Lightly apply a highlighting powder (shimmery white eyeshadow works if you're working with just the basics) to these high points and blend slightly. For a more dramatic look, use a special contour brush to blend in the cheekbones and offset with a foundation two shades lighter than your skintone to contour with the high appearance of your cheekbones. For a simpler, more youthful glow, simply use a loose eyeshadow brush to lightly apply it to the high points of the face to give a beautiful, dewy complexion.
