Whether you’re still freezing on the east coast or patiently waiting for your bulbs to bloom out west, there’s no doubt about it – March is finally here. Typically, this time of year presents eye makeup trends flooded with pastels, neutrals, and the slightest hint of shimmer. But not this year.
As shown during the 2015 Spring Fashion Week, this season is all about letting go. You want glitter? Go for it. Tons of black (not-so-perfect) liner? Okay! And while you won’t get a side-glance for going bare-faced (just if you do, make sure it’s a flawless, glowing bare face), you have permission from the fashion gods to be as colorful as you wish to be.
A great place to experiment with color this spring is by dabbling in the shades of Pantone’s color of the year: Marsala. But it’s not just for lips; for a twist on a smoky eye, sweep a Marsala-colored shadow across lids and up to crease with a soft brush, blending to a sheer vanilla tone on the brow bone. For a higher impact, use a black kohl pencil on eyelids first as a darker base, and pat the shadow on top. And don’t forget to top with luscious mink lashes to provide that runway pop.
Pair your makeup with a mussed-up braid and a negative-space manicure and you can consider yourself spring ready. Even if you are still donning your down jacket and fur-lined boots, summon the sun with warm and rich hues on your eyes or lips.
