Fall/Winter 2017 Hair Trends You Need To Know About!

From the bold and the dramatic to the untouched and supremely simple, hair trends this fall and winter offer something for every hair length, hair type and style. The runway shows featured an extremely diverse bevy of models who showcased various hairstyles ranging from minimalist and low key to wild and playful. Here's a brief recap of some of the most wearable looks that we think you might want to try!

  • Sleek and Polished - For the girl who likes to keep it simple, stylish and elegant, there is no better (or easier) look to achieve than the modern and neat hairstyles seen at shows like Jil Stuart, Prabal Gurang, and Thierry Mugler. Models wore their hair in super slick, parted down the middle, low ponytails or brushed back and tucked behind the ear, without a strand out of place. To add a little interest and modernity to the look, try parting hair low on the head, slightly above the ear or use a comb to create a zig zag part.
  • Ponytails & Pigtails - At Jason Wu, Alexander McQueen, and Oscar de La Renta, hairstyles were given a playful and girlish look with an array of pigtails and ponytails worn not only with daywear but even with formal and evening looks. The ponytails were kept simple, snug and high on the head with extensions added on some models to create long lengths while others wore casual pigtails which gave the clothing a youthful and fresh appeal especially when worn with ribbons or bows.
  • Braids, Braids, and more Braids - If we had to name just one of the coolest hair trends to have made its way back into the spotlight again this season it would have to be braids. Braids of all kinds: cornrows, French braids, Dutch braids, fishtail braids, micro braids, and loose braids wrapped around the head like a crown were all seen on models in many shows such as  Balmain, Alexander McQueen, Emporio Armani, Christian Siriano, and Alberto Ferretti. Incorporate this hair trend into your fall and winter looks by parting hair down the middle and braiding hair on each side.  Coil each braid into a loose bun on the sides of the head (a la Princess Lea) or try braiding a few tiny braids randomly and leave the rest of your hair loose.
  • Jewels and Other Embellishments - Another awesome trend spotted at many of the Fall/ Winter runway shows was the creative use of hair accessories to add sparkle, glamour, and totally original style to otherwise ordinary hairstyles. There were jeweled barrettes, large black velvet ribbons, glittery and ornate headbands, floral arrangements, and hairpins with words like Paranoia or Paradise. This is a style that is doable on any hair length and is a great way to add your own personal touch to your hairstyle and look. Add multiple jeweled barrettes all over your head or wrap a bun with a large ribbon or cool piece of string and let some strands of hair fall loose to create a soft and romantic look. Or try pinning a few flowers to your hair with criss-crossed bobby pins for a look that is uber-feminine and classically pretty!
