Four Mascaras We Love!
Posted on July 25 2017
Every woman wants long, lush eyelashes, and a good mascara is key, just ask any makeup artist worth his or her salt! A good mascara goes on smoothly -- without clumps, darkens lashes for definition, doesn't smear or smudge, and has staying power. The mascaras that follow meet all the criteria and then some and are not only our favs, but loved by makeup artists to the A-listers in Hollywood and New York, too ...
- L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black - When asked about their favorite mascara, Hollywood makeup artists mention this one again and again. Why? Because it's one of the darkest blacks around, provides intense, thick-looking, clump-free lashes and is incredibly affordable at about $8 per tube. The makeup artists who swear by it? Mario Dedivanovic and Ariel Tejada, who cater to the Kardashians, and Mary Phillips who regularly preps Chrissy Tiegen and Jennifer Lopez for the red carpet, for starters!
- Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara - A great everyday pick, this mascara gives lashes a full, feathery look. This one's also favored by Sir John, makeup artist for L’Oréal Paris and the force behind the faces of Beyoncé and Karlie Kloss, among others. Lancôme Hypnôse is a bit pricier, though, at about $28 a tube.
- Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara - It's a got smooth formula that doesn't clump as you add coats, plus a brush that does a great job of separating lashes as you comb it through. It's a favorite of makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who works with the likes of Naomi Watts, Dakota Johnson and model Rosie Huntington Whitely. About $24 per tube.
- Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara - Not only is this drugstore cheapie waterproof, but it has a super-consistent formula that allows you to separate lashes beautifully without clumps or mess. All this for about $8 a tube makes it almost too good to be true! British makeup artist Naoko Scintu, who works with Karlie Kloss and F.K.A. Twigs agrees, and says he likes it so much that he stocks up everytime he's in the States since it's not available in the UK!
We're also thrilled that not all of our favorites come with hefty price tags, proving once again that price alone isn't always a reliable indicator of quality and performance!
